we are the remedy, November 30th, 2006
Thank you to all who joined Edzimkulu to celebrate World AIDS Day, along with HIV Edmonton, Oxfam Canada (Edmonton Chapter), and Change for Children. We were entertained and enlightened, and updates were given by the three sponsoring organizations. We shared in much hope for the work being done to face the local and global challenges of HIV/AIDS, and were reminded of the vital importance of this work.

Activities included making of a World AIDS Day banner with student signatures to commemorate the day, poster making, selling of the bead work (created by the women of Ndawana) as well as the viewing of Edzimkulu's most recent video update "Changing Lives."

A heartfelt thanks to all visual and performing artists for generously contributing their time and talent to the Edzimkulu ArtFeast - a wonderful celebration of art and music in support of increased awareness of AIDS, Edzimkulu and the beautiful people of Ndawana, South Africa. Thank you too to our invaluable volunteers, attendees, Africa We Care, and local media for supporting this "Changing Lives" event with special mention to Citytv, Edmonton Journal, See, CKUA and CBC Radio 1. The Edzimkulu board and volunteers continue their work to further connect the communities of Ndawana and Edmonton, and fund-raise to support programs like healthcare, education, skills development, orphan feeding, and the delivery of valuable goods via cargo containers.

Changing Lives Dinner & Silent Auction, Friday, April 28th, 2006
On April 28th, the Edzimkulu family gathered for an Evening with African Flair - the first ever Changing Lives Dinner and Silent Auction. The evening featured African art and decor, the music of the Global Hand Drummers, reflections by a returning volunteer on the transformation that has occurred in Ndawana in the past year, and a remarkable DVD which had our friends in Ndawana sharing with us first-hand how their lives have been changed by the work of Edzimkulu. The event brought together the Edmonton Edzimkulu community, engaged many new supporters and friends and gave us an opportunity to share with others our enthusiasm and passion for our programs for the upcoming year. We are thrilled to report that the evening raised over $20,000 in support of these programs.

Edzimklu would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our volunteers, to our silent auction donors and to all of the guests who supported the event through their presence, their reckless bidding and their generous gifts and donations. Together we are truly changing lives.
